extra credit TWIS #14

This week in science we worked on our spider observation log. We watched a video about the starling bird. We also worked on questions about it. We also worked on what hippo means in our spider observation log. We also came to class and answered questions which was practice regents. We also got to catch up on make up work so our grades could get all our ponts before the semester ends.

This week in science we learned about HIPPO. The H stands for habitat loss, I Introduced Species, P Pollution, P Population Growth & O Over-Comsumption. We also learned what biodiversity was, That is the variety of life.

TWIS #13

If we were to add five more spiders to your spider habitat tank, what would happen? And why? Use these terms in your explanation: glucose, photosynthesis, energy, carbon dioxide, oxygen.

If we was to add more spiders to the habitat tank 3 or 4 of them would die. I think that because there would not be enough oxygen for them. Also because there would not be enough carbon dioxide for each or them. Since photosynthesis is green plants and other organisms use sunlight to synthesize foods from carbon dioxide and water the spiders wont get enough and they would end up dying.

TWIS #12

This week in science what I did was make booklets for our spider habitats. We had to decorate the cover and make look something like a spider habitat or have something t do with spiders. Something else we did  was answer questions from last year regents so we could practice for the test we took. We learned new bigger words that was going to be on the test were taking at the end of the year.

This week  I learned new words which are: abiotic, heterotroph, energy pyramid, autotroph etc. I also learned what animals were decomposer, carnivores, producers, herbivores, consumers. I also learned that mushrooms are heterotrophs because it can obtain nutrients from its enviornment. A heterotroph is a organism that doesn't make its own food. Abiotic is non-living, biotic is living and a energy pyramid represents how energy moves through the levels of the ecosystem.
